Overview
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) is the flagship public medical school in New Jersey, located in Newark and affiliated with University Hospital — one of the busiest Level I trauma centers in the state. NJMS is part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) and offers students access to a broad clinical network across New Jersey and the greater NYC metro area.
NJMS has a strong mission in urban medicine, primary care, and serving New Jersey's diverse communities. It is one of the most strategically important schools for New Jersey residents — the in-state tuition is a fraction of private schools, and the clinical training at University Hospital Newark is exceptional. NJMS also offers the BA/MD program in partnership with Rutgers University for exceptional high school students.
