After more than a decade inside medicine and academia, Dr. Mario Tomei kept watching the same thing happen. Students with real potential, genuine clinical experience, and authentic stories were being pushed through impersonal advising pipelines that treated their futures like a transaction.

I became a physician because I wanted to help people. What I didn't expect was how much I would come to love teaching. Standing in front of a classroom, watching a student's face change when something clicks — that feeling is as powerful to me as anything I've experienced in clinical medicine.
Mentoring students through the medical school application process is an extension of that. It's not about filling out forms or hitting word counts. It's about sitting with someone, understanding where they've been, and helping them find the words to say: this is who I am, and this is why medicine chose me.
I do this because I've seen what happens when students don't have the right guidance. I've watched talented, driven people get rejected not because they weren't good enough — but because nobody helped them tell their story. That bothers me deeply. It always has.
Every student I work with gets my full attention.
Not because it's good business. Because that's the only way I know how to do this.
